Couiza is a pretty little town at the heart of Aude, between Limoux and Quillan. It is easy to reach as there is a train station, plus it is on a bus route and there is a taxi service to Carcassonne airport. There are 2 restaurants, 2 patisseries (one of each pictured above), a mini-supermarket (called the Spar), health food shop, play park and Games Library where children can make puppets and play with over 500 games. |

Two rivers run through Couiza - the Aude and the Salz. There are river swimming spots in both rivers, plus canoeing and other water sports on the Aude. The nearest supermarket is Intermarche, which is just outside the town and several markets are nearby, the largest of which is in Esperaza every Sunday, this is a bustling market offering a range of local goods, fresh food and artisinal jewelery, clothes, pottery, etc.
